Honouring Stories and Healing
The Healing Foundation has recently updated its Institutions Map, which is a national truth-telling resource that documents 523 institutions where Stolen Generations babies and children were removed to under government policies of forced removal.
Every institution listed on this map represents stories of children taken, families torn apart, and communities impacted. Recognising these places is a vital step in honouring survivors and their ongoing healing.
The map will help all Australians better understand the full extent and impact of forced removals of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children across the country, and the ongoing intergenerational trauma experienced by their families and descendants.
